Byron Three For Three Labor Day Weekend

September 4, 2013

Charlotte, N.C. (September 4, 2013)- William Byron recorded the most productive and memorable weekend of his rookie season by winning three big races and being introduced to the Advocare 500 Sprint Cup Series crowd during pre-race introductions at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Byron captured Friday and Saturday night victories at Concord (N.C) Speedway in a convincing fashion. On both nights the sophomore at Charlotte Country Day School had fast time of the night giving him the pole position. The current US Legends Young Lions national points leader fought off the challenges of a tough Young Lions field on Friday evening and backed it up with a strong wire to wire performance on Saturday to bring his No. 25 Legends car to victory lane under threatening skies.

Sunday was a day to remember when Byron headed to Atlanta Motor Speedway with his family to be honored for his Thursday Thunder Young Lions points championship. Byron and the other division champions were introduced to the NASCAR Sprint Cup crowd during pre-race ceremonies and joined speedway dignitaries in a suite to enjoy the race after his proud moment.

“I can’t thank U.S. Legends, Legends of Georgia and Atlanta Motor Speedway enough for the hospitality we received in honoring me for my Thursday Thunder Championship,” said Byron. “It was a day that I will remember for a long time.”

After only a few hours of sleep Byron headed up I-85 to Caraway (Ga.) Speedway for a Sunday event on what is now one of William’s favorite tracks. In a combined field of some of the best racers in the country the 15-year-old Byron finished first in the Young Lions division to rack up his third win of the weekend and 23rd of the season after 25 exciting laps of racing on the lightning fast oval.

"I had a blast running with a competitive field today. We came here with intentions set on getting another win, and we were able to accomplish that,” said Byron. "I have a ton of confidence going into Nationals at Lake Erie, Pa.,  after getting the win at Caraway. With both tracks being similar, I look forward to our next trip up to Lake Erie Speedway in search for the National Championship."
