GREENVILLE, S.C. – A host of NASCAR K&N Pro Series East drivers have burst onto the scene via Greenville Pickens Speedway Victory Lane. Add William Byron to the list.
Joey Logano, Austin Dillon and Darrell Wallace Jr. headline a who’s who of drivers that have captured their first series checkered flag at the historic South Carolina oval in the last 10 years. Byron, a 17-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina, became the seventh member of that group as the victor of Saturday night’s Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150.
It was a dominant performance for Byron behind the wheel of his No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet. From his starting position on the outside of the front row, he outmaneuvered Pole Award winner Daniel Hemric on the race’s initial start and led the entire event in just his second series start.
