Hampton, GA- (July 22, 2013)- On Thursday evening, July 25th, William Byron will face the challenge of recording his first series championship as he heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway for round ten of the Thursday Thunder Series. Byron currently leads the Young Lions standings by 13 points entering the final round.
Byron is coming off a strong week recording three top five finishes including a runner-up at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Tuesday evening and had a night to remember at Atlanta on Thursday last week. In the first of two races Byron finished third but saved perhaps his best performance yet for the second feature. Running second on lap seven he spun into the infield. He battled back and made the pass to win in the closing laps giving him his fourth win out of the nine races held so far in Thursday Thunder events.
"I am really excited about Thursday night in Atlanta," stated Byron. "It would mean a great deal to me to win the championship but I know I am going to have to work hard."
Before heading off to Atlanta William will venture to Charlotte Motor Speedway on Tuesday night for round eight of the Summer Shootout. This week is a double points night and will have a huge impact on deciding the series champion.
"Tuesday's Shootout race could be wild with double points," added the talented teen. "I am going to just focus on running a clean race."
