DOVER, Del. – William Byron clinched the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship Saturday in the Driver Sober 125 at Dover International Speedway for HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks.
Byron led 58 laps and drove his No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet to a ninth-place finish to capture the title. The race was delayed a day due to rain and the green flag dropped without a single lap of practice for the K&N Pro Series East field.
The 17-year-old Byron joins Joey Logano (2007), Ryan Truex (2009), Kyle Larson (2012) and Ben Rhodes (2014) as drivers to win the championship in their rookie season.
